For a very long time, high resolution PDF using Chinese/Japanese/Korean
truetype fonts has been problematic on MacOS. Special application must
be used, such as Chinese edition Adobe PageMaker, Chinese edition QuakeXpress,
or English version QuakeXpress/Sunrise Asian Environment (discontinued).
For sometime, there is already a solution for Japanese language, but there
is not a simple way to create high resolution Chinese/Korean PDF on the
MacOS.
Here at UniDoc System LLC., we have produced a set of high resolution CJK truetype fonts. Using these fonts and the bundled UniText LE application, we provide a fast and versatile method to convert your CJK document into high resolution PDF file within a English version MacOS. It is as simple as Save-Import(optional)-Print. Currently, this function is provided only for Elegance truetype fonts. If you use CJK truetypes from other vendors, you should consider to purchase the equivalence Elegance truetypes.

In order to generate high quality PDF CJK document, all CJK text in
your document window must be set to Elegance Fonts. If you use CJK fonts
from other vendors, these fonts will not be converted, and the text associated
with these fonts may be lost in further processing.

When you finish the editing, first save your document. Then from File
menu, select command "Convert to 1-Byte Text". A dialog will appear asking
user to enter a file name for saving:

After enter the file name of your choice, click "Save" button. UniText now starts to analyze the font information of your document, and 1-byte CJK fonts will be created based on your text context if these texts use Elegance truetype fonts. In above example, the 1-byte CJK font will be created with the name "Apple Asia News - 1-byte.TTC".
After the 1-byte font conversion, UniText will prompt user for the file format. UniText will provide four Microsoft Word format as your file options. User should choose the format according to your need. For our example, we will select Word 6.0 for importing into QuakeXpress 4.0:

Click OK, a Word document is saved, with all the CJK text in 1-byte text/font format. This concludes the font conversion and file saving. Note, after this step, the CJK text in your active document is already in 1-byte format. You may save it as you wish. We, at UniDoc System LLC, suggest that user should always save the 2-byte CJK text, while we still provide 1-byte text/font format in your document for you to cut and paste into other applications.
After the 1-byte text/font documents are created, user must load the 1-byte font into system. Drag and drop the font into the Font Folder:

Open your favorite layout application, in the example, the QuakeXpress, import the Word document, you will get the CJK text with a snap:

Now you can layout CJK text in any way you like, as simple and easy as you would with English text layout. Who says that CJK desktop publishing has to be expensive and difficult or even impossible? (Hint: Quake and Adobe did!)

If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro installer, there are two ways to get PDF output.
1) Using PDFWriter:
From chooser, select PDFWriter as your default printer, then print the 1-byte CJK text as PDF file directly.
2) Using Acrobat Distiller:
From chooser, select PSPrinter as your default printer, then print to file to create a PS document. Open Acrobat Distiller, and convert the PS file into PDF document.
3) Final Touch:
Use Acrobat Exchange to add tag/link for a breathtaking presentation.
