Welcome to UniText LE, a standalone styled text/HTML editor capable of editing Chinese, Japanese and Korean. As the default editor of Pan-Asia Language Environment (PanALE), it is an easy program which fills the gap between SimpleText and a full featured word processor. For Asian language user, it fills a void for a stand alone styled text editor for double byte language with built-in fbit font and input method support. As the CJK inputting environment, UniText LE is a shareWare ($20). If you like the program, please support shareware concept by paying the registration fee.

With PanALE/UniText you can

• Display Chinese, Japanese, Korean with any MacOS compatible computer with system 7.1 or above in any applications.
• Create, edit and print styled multilingual text in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and any western languages.
• Edit WYSWYG HTML with features tailored for GB/HZ Chinese and Shift-JIS/EUC-J/JIS Japanese users.
• Export any text file in image format using web savvy format (JPEG/GIF/PICT).
• Convert styled multilingual text in 2-byte languages to pdf document by non-localized Adobe Acrobat for file exchange. Currently, this only supports Elegance series CJK truetype fonts and PanALE fbit fonts.
• Convert language code set by importing and exporting text file to be loaded to internet.
• Set up an external Chinese, Korean, Japanese viewer and editor for internet browser.
• Quickly create, edit and print styled text documents of any size (limited by RAM).
• View and print TeachText or SimpleText read-only (ReadMe) documents.
• Embed picture, sound, QuickTime movie and QuickDraw 3D model in your file for breath-taking presentation.
• Drag and Drop any text, picture, sound, movie object around or to other drag and drop compatible application.

The author and UniDoc System LLC forbid the following components to be extracted  from Unicorn Editor/UniText/PanALE package, to be redistributed separated or to be used as plugins for other softwares for profit:
1) The custom Japanese input method, both in EUC and in Shift-JIS codeset. This includes those modules previously released by Xiaolin Zhao as Unicorn Japanese Plugins which are still available from IFCSS mirror site in Japan.
2) The Pan-Asia script files, this includes Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, four scripts. These scripts are not from Apple, but engineered independently at UniDoc System LLC by Xiaolin Allen Zhao.

Above items are protected by international laws and will prosecuted if pirated or re-distributed for profit purpose.

Required: 68000 Macintosh, with system 7.1 and 8MB RAM.
Preferred: 68020 Mac or above, with system 7.5 and 16 MB RAM, Worldscript II.

For Elegance Font 1-byte text/font handling:
Minimum: PowerPC 601, with system 7.5 and 16 MB RAM.

     UniText LE has the following pricing.
     Single user licenses, $20 per user
     A Site License costs $500 and covers all locations for your organization within a 160 kilometer radius of your site (100 miles). One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using the software.
     A World-Wide License costs $2000 and it covers all locations for your organization on the planet earth.

     Paying for UniText LE is very simple. Open the Register program that accompanies UniText LE. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase (or Site or worldwide licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi. More specifics on the Register program to follow.

     If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.

     Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgment when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgment.

     If you are paying with Cash or USD Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

     You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is  around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.

     If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to  highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment. Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.

     Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
